I feel like a proud mom watching local brands kill it at SAFW
I can barely put together a week’s worth of outfits for when I go on holiday so I can’t imagine how much effort goes into putting together a whole collection at SAFW.
I was lucky enough to get invited by my favourite local swimwear brand, Summerheart, to watch the Resort Collection show. It was really spectacular to see so many different swimwear collections all showcase their unique style.
Plus watching all the swimwear got me really excited for summer season 2 in Europe as I leave South Africa just before “winter” starts. Although our current autumn situation is twice as hot as London’s “spring” so I doubt I’ll be wearing my bikinis any time soon.

After I left the show I felt even more passionate about supporting local brands especially now that I’m leaving SA. I’m taking this as an opportunity to tell people about the talent back home…which is also giving me a great excuse to stock up more local labels before I leave.
PS. I did a post a few months ago on different SA swimwear brands, if you’re interested have a look here.
