I dressed bohemian on a summer day in Joburg…and it rained.
Just my luck. I finally take off those sweatpants and put on denim cut offs and then bam my friend/laughing buddy/photographer/model inspiration person and I get stuck in the rain. I guess Joburg wasn’t having my bohemian inspired look. Perhaps it’s more suited to a beach lifestyle. But I don’t care, I’ll wear my pom-pom shawl while I walk around the concrete jungle (even if it means I’m cold).
In fairness I shouldn’t criticize the rain, I’m thankful for it. That and the fact that the fashion industry has made it trendy to wear pajamas out in public. Now we just need them to make basic hair in a lazy ponytail a thing and I’m set.
While we’re on the topic of being thankful here are things I wasn’t thankful for this week:
- Finding out my mom “mistakenly” gave away my favourite pair of jeans
- A clogged up mailbox with Black Friday deals
- Getting to gym and realising I forgot my ear-phones…and then having to say hi to people at gym
- Finishing my 500ml Dermalogica face wash, that stuff is so expensive
- Tripping in public
- Eating half a pie of Milk Tart in one sitting
- Walking in the rain with bare feet at 7am
With the day-to-day rush I often get sucked into a routine where I opt for wearing the same “uniform“. Besides for that being completely boring (although handy at times) I find it has an affect on my mood. I get bored and frustrated easily with the monotony of it all. Suddenly small things, like losing my favourite jeans, make me feel as if the world is ending.
But I’m turning over this unthankful (Microsoft is telling me this isn’t a word but I know it is!) week and looking at the positives. Like how I got shawl for R400 off because it was missing 2 pom-poms. Or how I bought these Espadril shoes over a year ago and now suddenly everyone is going crazy for them. Or how it’s so close to the summer holidays I can basically taste it…by the way the taste of summer is ice-cream if you were wondering.
Although I’m not thankful for a whole bunch of things I wont let that frustrate me. Instead I’m going to put on my bohemian inspired look, swirl around in the garden, jump in the pool, eat more Milk Tart and be happy that it’s summer.
