Get the look: how to wear a LBD

One of my all time favourite bloggers is Julie Sarinana from SincerlyJules.com. I love how she takes simple outfits and elevates them with small details. Going from meetings, to coffee runs she manages to look chic and comfortable at the same time. I feel like I can totally relate to that. I wake up each day needing to look formal for work and then comfortable for going out, meeting people and running errands.

Often I use simple dresses and dress them up for work and down for drinks – or the other way round depending on my mood. I’ve found blues, blacks, greys are ideal for playing around with different styles. This specific LBD is perfect for just that. So when I saw Julie Sarinana’s ‘Coffee Run’ post I was inspired to go for a similar look. To get her look all you need is a black slip dress, a thin shirt – I opted for a lighter colour one than she did because its spring here in South Africa – some all stars, and a leather/black jacket.

Playing around with a simple LBD has never been easier, swop the all stars for sandals or strappy heels and your look is automatically a bit more formal. If you’re thinking about buying a new dress and you don’t own a LBD make it your priority. It’s literally the best thing you can do for your cupboard that won’t be outdated.

Let me know how you like to wear your LBD?
